You would think that after years of creating a mega-popular YouTube channel and then parlaying that into a late-night TV talk show gig, Lilly Singh would love being in the spotlight all the time. But the truth is that, yup, celebs are just like us. Sometimes, they need to be alone—to be themselves, relax, be still, and uh, be able to break wind whenever the mood strikes. #Relatable. Thursday night on A Little Late with Lilly Singh, Scarborough’s favourite daughter took to the airwaves to spout off an entire grocery list of why she needs to be alone, and why you should too.During her opening monologue, she talked about how we tend to present a half-true, fun and chummy version of ourselves to others, like a late-night TV talk show host, and we have to do this night, after night, after night. Hmmm, is she still talking in metaphor here?
But of course, when we’re alone, that's when our true selves come out and we're forced to sit with ourselves and confront our true nature. Like watching 40 hours of 90 Day Fiancé and longing for more. Ah, that is the BEST life. Is Lilly looking for another job as a life coach?“Alone time is when I do self-care,” she said. “You know, I recharge, mediate, and centre myself. It's also great because I hate holding in my farts.”“No, seriously, because you're all here right now, so I'm holding in a fart.”Okay, believable.[video_embed id='1638403']RELATED: 'The Social' hosts react to Lilly Singh’s late-night show[/video_embed]She went on to get real about other taboo topics like how shower sex actually sucks (“You know what’s really hot? A 20% chance of falling and breaking my neck!”), how spending too much time with your partner can actually ruin the relationship (“Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande? Broken engagement! Sonny and Cher? Divorce!”), and the maybe-not-terrible of couples having separate bedrooms. The last one might seem odd, but hear her out.“Even if I get married, I want to have my own separate bedroom . . . because my spouse wouldn't have to hear what I say in my sleep," she said. "Truly, I talk about what I want to do on this show, what I want to do on my YouTube channel, what I want to do with the Hemsworths...” Oh, understood.Sure, you love being around your partner, or being at a party, or working in large groups, but sometimes, you just want to cocoon yourself in your room with the door closed and read 20 tawdry romance novels with a burrito on your chest and not be judged! It’s what we all need. Viewers on social media were very much in agreement, with many of them telling Our Lady Lilly to preach some more.We love it when Lilly says something that truly speaks to us, and moves us, all while making us laugh. Her monologues have a history of being smart, sassy, and above all, loaded with truth.Lilly > Obi Wan.
