The world is still months away from an official Friends reunion, but for now Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston are PIVOTing by chatting amongst themselves about the iconic show. The duo sat down for a recent issue of Variety’s Actors on Actors, teasing the exact kind of banter and content fans should expect in the upcoming special. The actors started out by chatting about their recent roles and Aniston’s return to television via The Morning Show, but they quickly turned the conversation to Friends blooper reels, watching themselves back on TV, and about asking Matthew Perry for permission to say something on-screen with a Chandler affliction. (Could the guy BE any more possessive over his character?)[video_embed id='1557855']RELATED: Jennifer Aniston named a dog after Dolly Parton[/video_embed]“When we’re at Ross’ and we’re seeing Monica and Chandler start undressing each other in front of the window. And then, [I’m like], ‘My eyes! My eyes!’ That’s how Matthew Perry said things. I actually asked his permission before we shot it,” Kudrow revealed during the conversation. “I was like, ‘I don’t know if you’ve seen the rehearsals, but I’m saying ‘My eyes! My eyes!’ the way you do. So I just need to know that that’s OK with you. If not, I’ll say it a different way.’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, go for it.’”“I feel like Matthew required us to ask permission when we borrowed Chandler’s cadence,” Aniston added. “We were like, ‘But it’s flattering.’ I think it’s going to be really fun also when we, if we ever get out of quarantine, get to do our reunion show.”Both actors agreed that they’re looking forward to getting the gang back together for the HBO Max special, which was originally supposed to air in May to coincide with the streaming service’s launch. The reunion was delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, with brass holding out until it’s safe to have everyone in the same room (or to be more accurate the Warner Bros studio, where the show originally filmed). The latest reports are targeting August as the new likely film date.“We don’t know everything about it, we need to say,” Kudrow added. “I think we’re meant to be surprised by some things as well.”“We know it’s not scripted, that we know…” Aniston said. “I will not be Rachel, although I kind of am. Well, we’re all sort of little fragments of them. Not really. But yeah.”Meanwhile, as fans wait for more official reunion news, Aniston and Kudrow gave everyone more behind-the-scenes tidbits to hold them over in the Variety interview. When Aniston revealed that she could look at any particular scene and remember the moment someone broke, both women recalled losing it together on the set.“You and I would always get into these fits of laughter because you had this wonderful ability to — you were about to hit your punchline, and you would do this adorable thing where you would break. You would say the punchline, and you would always turn to the audience and say, ‘I’m sorry, it’s really funny,’” Aniston remembered. “If I knew I was going, I wouldn’t say the punchline — I didn’t want to ruin it.” Kudrow added. The Friends reunion was officially confirmed in February, when each of the original six cast members confirmed their participation. It’s been reported that they’re each making $2 million to do the show, which will be 100 per cent unscripted.“It’s not like, ‘Oh, it was such hard work for 10 years.’ It’s not that,” Kudrow explained to Aniston about being afraid to fully commit to any other series following Friends. “It was that I know that show worked because we all committed to each other too. It wasn’t just committing to a role, committing to a contract. We all still love each other. Our cast is like that, and that’s why that worked. I think part of me died. I can’t do that again.”[video_embed id='1960784']BEFORE YOU GO: Obama seems to call out Trump's COVID-19 response[/video_embed]
