Lisa Marie Presley and her family are in mourning after the sudden and tragic death of 27-year-old son Benjamin Keough, whom Presley shared with her ex-husband Danny Keough. He died in Calabasas, California on July 12 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Keough is survived by his parents, as well as his older sister, 31-year-old actres Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road). The late grandson of Elvis and Priscilla Presley also left behind two half-sisters, 11-year-old twins Harper and Finley, whom Presley shares with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood. TMZ was first to report Keough’s death, and confirmed with local police that it appeared he had died by suicide.According to Presley’s rep who was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, the mom of four is, of course, in a state of shock and grief. "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter, Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."[video_embed id='1993434']RELATED: Chantel Jeffries breaks down the mathematical formula behind creating a hit song[/video_embed]Although born into music royalty, Keough kept a relatively low profile throughout his life. It appeared though, that he may have been considering a career in music. In 2009, the Daily Mail reported that Keough had signed a $5 million record deal with Universal, although the label denied the story. In 2013, Presley said that Keough was still figuring out his direction. Speaking to the Huffington Post, Presley said Benjamin was interested in music. “He’s doing his own thing right now. I’m going to let him decide when he wants to go out and do what he wants to do.” Presley said that her son often attended her shows when she was on the road. “He loves to be part of it. He loves touring. It’s on his time frame. Always. Then when he’s ready to see me, he’ll come.” Adding that Keough and his older sister were fans of their mother’s music, Presley said “It ebbs and flows, but they are very supportive. They just have pressing matters now with their own lives.”The singer addressed her son’s striking resemblance to her late father with CMT in 2012. Presley was promoting her album Storm & Grace at the time (Storm was Benjamin’s middle name) and recalled her recent performance at the iconic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. “He [Benjamin] was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage! Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny. Sometimes I am overwhelmed when I look at him.”Also in 2012, Presley released her music video for “I Love You Because,” re-recoding the track so that she was singing with her late father. The video included never before seen home footage of Elvis and Priscilla, as well as footage of Presley’s four children, including Benjamin.
In June 2019, Presley shared a picture with her four children, labelling the image “Mama Lion with cubs.”[video_embed id='1992128']BEFORE YOU GO: Shaggy's rediscovering some of his earlier talents in quarantine[/video_embed]
