In a remake no one saw coming, it looks like every preschooler’s dream is about to come true. Dora the Explorer is about to hit the big screen — but not in animated form. No way. According to Deadline, a live-action version is being planned and Paramount is hoping it’s just the beginning of a beautiful franchise.

It’s being produced by Mary Parent (The SpongeBob Movie), while Tom Wheeler (Puss In Boots) has signed on to script the project. No word on casting or plot but we think we can hazard a guess.

And the Explorer Stars have to make an appearance at some point, right?

Dora will get to her destination and the “We Did It!” song will be forever burned in our brains.

The end.

It might be what every parent is dreading (well, after the Smurfs movies) but if we cross our fingers, maybe we’ll get a grittier version. Maybe something like this?

Oh, man!
