One Direction may not be back from what they claimed would be an “about 18-month” break, but Louis Tomlinson’s cat impression is!
On Wednesday, the “Back to You” singer recreated the fan-favourite moment on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “There are few things I’ve done in my career that I’ve looked back on and been pretty embarrassed about,” said Tomlinson recalling the viral clip from nearly four years ago. “It’s pretty tragic.”
Back in 2015, Spectre actor Daniel Craig told Capital FM that he thought Tomlinson’s One Direction bandmate Niall Horan would be an “absolutely fabulous” James Bond replacement should he choose not to return to the franchise. Horan “auditioned” for the role on The Late Late Show and, in an improvised scene, Corden was the Bond villain while Tomlinson sat on his lap and pretended to be a cat.
When Corden challenged him to reprise the impression, Tomlinson was reluctant before eventually giving in to the roaring crowd. With their paws up, they acted like “cats having a slight fight” sitting alongside Sir Ian McKellen and Simon Pegg.
In even more great news for fans, Tomlinson revealed that new music is on the way! “I’ve been working on this album for a while now. I’m looking to release songs a little bit more frequently,” he explained. His latest single, “Two of Us,” came out in April 2019. “At the moment it’s three or four months in between, so I think I’m going to do two or three at once and get myself back on the road.”
That’s right! He’s also going on tour. “Which I’m really excited about,” he said, telling Corden that he’s planning on touring in 2020, starting off in small venues. “You know, we spent 70 percent of our time in One Direction on the road, so it’s been a while for me to do a tour.”
There’s no word on what to expect from his new music yet, but we can’t wait to hear it!
