Like thousands of freshmen around the world, Maddox Jolie-Pitt is making the adjustment to life away from home as he settles in to his first year at University in South Korea. The teen was asked whether his five brothers and sisters were excited that big brother Maddox was attending Yonsei University, with the 18-year-old laughing and responding “Yeah, I think so.” But things took a more serious turn when Maddox was asked about his famous dad, Brad Pitt.When the reporter questioned Maddox on whether Pitt would be visiting him at school, Jolie-Pitt said “I don’t know about that, what’s happening.” The reporter then asked about the status of Maddox’s relationship with his father and received a very teen-appropriate answer of “Whatever happens, happens.”The interview quickly veered back into more relaxed topics, including Maddox’s plans to learn Korean and whether he’ll be out clubbing and dancing to K-Pop bands (he’s more of a punk fan, especially English band The Business). Although Maddox’s comments didn’t give much away about his relationship with his father, they did mark the first time the teen has publicly spoken about Pitt since the 2016 incident that reportedly pushed Angelina Jolie to file for divorce.Jolie and Pitt were married in 2014 after a decade together, with the pair co-parenting their six children, including Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox. difficult’ between the couple in 2016 and their problems culminated with a highly publicized flight on a private plane that year, which reportedly ended with a physical altercation between Brad and Maddox. The
Los Angeles Department of Child Services were involved and launched a full investigation, eventually clearing Pitt of any wrongdoing, but that didn’t stop Jolie from filing for divorce. Although Jolie has maintained primary custody of the couple’s six children, relations between the two parents have
recently improved and Pitt has enjoyed more time with his children.Of course, the full details of the pair's relationship continue to be kept mostly under wraps, as they should be when it comes to such a personal matter. We can’t imagine being 18 years old, moving across the world to attend school and then being approached by a reporter holding a camera and firing questions about what we can only assume is a difficult, complicated and possibly painful topic. Whatever Maddox’s relationship with his father, one thing we know for sure is that he’s an incredibly poised and composed young man.
