Remember the good old days when Snapchat was meant for sending quick pictures to your friends or significant other to share those random moments in your day? Or even earlier than that, when it was originally created as a way to share those dirty shots you wanted to send, but never wanted to keep? (Whatever. You know you thought about it.)
Either way, you might want to strap on those lace tanks and consider downloading the popular app immediately, because now Madonna is on board, and she’s changing the game completely.
Madge has become the biggest name on board Snapchat’s ongoing efforts to push itself into the world of YouTube and Instagram, thanks to her release of a new music video on Friday. The 56-year-old debuted “Living for Love,” the first single off her upcoming album, Rebel Heart, on the application, proving that she’s even more with the times than we thought.
You know, because rolling around on stage in a wedding dress or changing your name to Esther is no longer edgy enough to remain relevant in this digital world. Maybe she can tell us how to get those U2 songs off our iPhones, too?
The best part is that the entire video seems to be a bit of a meta-Madonna move, mostly because it sounds more like the classic “Material Girl” than ever — with updated beats. Plus, she’s dressed in yet another groundbreaking fashion, this time like a lingerie-clad matador (“Take a Bow,” anyone?) ordering shirtless dudes around like it’s no one’s business.
To see the video, you need to download Snapchat, then head over to the Discover Snapchat section of the site. (Swipe right from the main screen, tap the purple button and then hit the black ghost icon.) Better hurry though — it will only be available for 24 hours.
Feel like you can wait? The video is expected to hit mainstream media sometime this weekend. In the meantime, we managed to dig this up for you:
Considering the first six songs from Madge’s album have already been leaked online, we’re going to go ahead and say this is definitely one way to take your career back into your own hands.
Rebel Heart hits shelves on March 11.
