Your chance to hobnob with a couple of celebrities is now within reach. But, these are not your average celebrities; these are superstars who made us believe, back in 1997, that love could go on and on, and taught us to never, ever let go. That’s right, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are reuniting for a good cause, and auctioning themselves off for charity.
A private dinner with the beloved Titanic co-stars is just one of many items being auctioned off at DiCaprio’s annual gala event in St. Tropez, France. All the proceeds raised from the gala and auction go to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which supports projects that protect vulnerable wildlife from extinction, and has earmarked more than $80 million in grants to environmental causes since 2010.
But back to the dinner. How fun would that be? You might feel a little ignored as the pals reunite, catch up, speak only to each other in hushed voices and tell inside jokes only they’ll understand, but hey, at least you can say you’ve had dinner with two Hollywood legends.
The winning bidder gets to choose the restaurant, but it has to be in New York, and due to Leo and Kate’s busy schedules, the dinner has to take place sometime in October or November. At least it’s all for a good cause and considering the amount of money bidders will be ponying up, a little more to get to NYC shouldn’t be a big deal.
As for the star-studded event, Lenny Kravitz is slated to perform and Madonna, Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone, Tom Hanks, Jared Leto, Kate Hudson, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Uma Thurman and Tobey Maguire will make appearances.
Last year’s gala raised an impressive $45 million for more than 30 organizations all over the world and hopefully this Titanic-level dinner will do even more good this year.
