There are about one-million different products you could put on your face, most of which require a fair bit of time to use. But there’s one method that Korean women have been using for years that can be incorporated seamlessly into your routine, and it only takes 15 seconds. So, naturally, you’ll want to try it, yeah?
It’s called a “splash mask,” but it really isn’t a mask at all. Basically, you take a cap-full of product, and add the solution to a 1/4-full basin of water. If you want to avoid the basin altogether, you can just apply carefully in the shower.
Before we get into the product, though, we’ll tell you how this all came to be. Basically, Korean women have been using flour-water or rice water to maintain a youthful glow for many years. That’s because the enzymes found in these natural methods include vitamins B1, C and E, which can help tighten skin, shrink pores and give the appearance of brighter skin. It also makes skin softer, too.
So, of course the Korean beauty market chose to capitalize on this, only they made it faster. That’s how “splash masks” came to be. The biggest player in the game right now is Blithe, who has various scents like Yellow Citrus & Honey ($65). You just take a cap-full – ingredients include water, lactic acid, gardenia extract, castor oil, sugar maple extract and more – and pat gently on your face for 15 seconds. The end result is a re-texturized face (thanks largely in part to that lactic acid).
People have put it right in their baths, or filled a basin and splashed it on their face. But you can just dab it on in the shower after you’re done the rest of your routine. It’s stupidly easy.
