We have a special request for Republican Presidential Candidate Marco Rubio: Please keep Canadian cities out of your political advertisements. Thanks (and sorry about that).
The reason we say that is because Rubio’s latest political ad appears to pass off Vancouver, B.C. as part of the U.S., which is basically the worst kind of blasphemy one could ever commit. Needless to say, he wouldn’t have our vote.
“It’s morning again in America,” the ad begins, as it shows a boat crossing what is clearly a shot of Vancouver’s waterfront. Here is the image, so you can see for yourself:
Now, if you aren’t from Vancouver, you might not notice some of the tell tale signs. But if you look closely, you’ll spot the city’s Harbour Centre Lookout Tower.
Then there are the classic cargo cranes that line Vancouver’s waterfront. Look familiar?
If not, here they are in Vancouver:
Perhaps our favourite giveaway, however, is the presence of a CANADIAN FLAG flying off one of the boats:
You’d think someone vying for the presidency would know a shot of his own country when he sees it. But since there seems to be some confusion in the Rubio camp, we thought we’d provide a map for reference, so that this never happens again:
