If you’d like your retirement with salt on the rim of your Margarita, we have just the place for you. Jimmy Buffett has announced that along with home builder Minto Communities, the singer, songwriter and author is set to launch a set of retirement communities called Latitude Margaritaville.
The first retirement community will be located in Daytona Beach, Florida (shocker). With prices starting in the low $200,000 USD, retirees aged 55 and older are promised that they will grow older in a place where fun and relaxation intersect.
Described on the website as being “inspired by the legendary music and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett,” Latitude Margaritaville will be “your new home in paradise [featuring] exciting recreation, unmatched dining and FINtastic nightlife.”
Parrotheads (aka Jimmy Buffett fans) hoping to spend their retirement looking for that lost shaker of salt can begin applying now to own one of the 7,000 two and three-bedroom homes. The sales centre is scheduled to open later this year, with furnished show homes available for viewing in early 2018. The first set of homes in Daytona Beach are then expected to open in the summer of 2018, with more locations to follow.
The new retirement homes could be especially enticing to Canadian snowbirds, with a number of U.S. lawmakers looking to extend Canadians’ time allotment in the U.S. to eight months.
Looks like we’ll be spending every winter in Florida when we retire.
