Something old, something new, something borrowed, something tattooed? Hmm, maybe not if Margot Robbie's involved. Margot is having a great year, what with the release of both Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood and Bombshell, the latter of which earned her an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actress. Since bursting onto our silver screens in The Wolf of Wall Street, there has been nothing she seemingly can’t do or tackle... except tattoos. Not a big deal really, but if you know Margot, you know they’re kind of her thing.Since her days on the set of Suicide Squad, Margot has been infamous for handing out amateur tattoos like they were Smarties. “On the first Suicide Squad, we did ‘SKWAD’ tattoos and they became a bit of a thing,” she told Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night on The Tonight Show (weekdays at 11:35pET on CTV 2). “Everyone got one! People from lighting and set would just pop into my trailer to get one.” She then whipped her foot out to show the one she gave herself. That’s gotta hurt. When Jimmy asked how she trained to do tats, she quipped, “Oh, I’m not trained at all, I bought the gun on eBay.” So we're going to go out on a limb and say it’s a good thing she’s apparently hung up the tattoo gun for good. As she tells it, she very nearly ruined a wedding because of her ill-timed ink.
“One of my good friends was getting married in Australia, and had the [bachelorette party] the night before," she explained. "And of course, there was a lot of drinking, and we were like, 'Oh let’s get matching tattoos, ‘cause that’s a great idea!’ And I was tattooing my friend on her back. Another friend had drawn it on in [pen] and then I tattooed it, and then when I showed her afterwards, she was like, ‘Oh. I didn't know that's what I was getting.’”As Margot tells it, her friend was pretty cool about it. But there was one person who very much was not cool about it at all—her friend's mum.“The next day at the wedding, when she walked down the aisle, as one of the maids of honour in a backless dress, and this, like, red, raw, scabbing tattoo, and her mom was filthy with me. She was—like, razzed at me at the wedding. She was so angry, and I thought, ‘I really shouldn't do this any more.’”Yeah, we are forced to agree with the mum on this one. This isn’t the first time Margot’s tattoo skills have both delighted and horrified an audience in equal measure. A couple years ago on The Graham Norton Show, the Birds of Prey actress wielded the tattoo gun on a member of the production staff, much to the shock and awe of Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling and Reese Witherspoon sitting next to her. It really gets you thinking: if you had the opportunity to get a tattoo done by Margot Robbie with a tattoo gun purchased from eBay, would you?[video_embed id='1892559']Margot Robbie and the cast of ‘Birds of Prey’ react to film’s reception[/video_embed]
