School is in session! Zack Morris is heading back to Bayside High with sources confirming that actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar has signed on to reprise his famous role in the upcoming reboot of Saved By The Bell. The Mixed-ish star is reportedly confirmed to appear in three episodes of the reboot and will also act as an executive producer. That’s a lot of work for a guy who rarely completed any of his assignments. The Hollywood Reporter announced Gosselaar’s return on Thursday and revealed the circumstances surrounding the former students’ return to Bayside. Gosselaar’s Zack is now the governor of California and has come under fire for closing low-income high schools, a move that sends the affected students to high performing high schools, including Bayside High.Gosselaar’s Saved By The Bell co-star Mario Lopez already confirmed his return to the series, with the entertainment host Instagramming a photo from the first table read of the reboot. That’s right. Albert Clifford ‘AC’ Slater is back and we can only hope that means the maroon wrestling singlet isn’t far behind.

The on-screen friends have remained friends off-screen over the years, appearing together during interviews and hanging out off set at the gym and with their families.

The group enjoyed a reunion dinner with their spouses, with Lopez captioning the photo “Friends Forever.” Bring back Zack Attack!

In addition to Lopez and Gosselaar, Berkley has also signed on to reprise her role as Honour Roll student Jessie Spano, who we can easily picture returning to Bayside as an educator. Or a senator. Jessie Spano for president? That seems plausible. Lopez and Berkley are also credited as producers alongside Gosselaar.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thiessen is also in talks to join the reboot. Did Kelly Kapowski and Zack Morris end up together? We may find out in September when the series is set to premiere on NBC’s new streaming platform Peacock. The Saved By The Bell reboot will star actor Josie Totah, who starred opposite Mindy Kaling and Anders Holm on the TV show Champions. Totah, who previously went by JJ, came out as a transgender woman in 2018 and is set to play a popular cheerleader in Saved By The Bell marking a big step in trans representation on a major TV series.Saved By The Bell is the latest series to join the reboot trend, but the show has already enjoyed a successful reunion episode of sorts. In 2015, Gosselaar, Lopez, Berkley and Thiessen all appeared on a skit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon along with Dennis Haskins who played Principal Richard Belding. Although the reboot will feature the cast as adults, this skit proof they can still play teenagers. That is one genetically blessed cast.[video_embed id='-1']Adorably fluffy puppy goes where the brush goes[/video_embed]
