In a plot twist no one saw coming, Marvel TV’s longest-running series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will end after its upcoming seventh season. With its sixth season currently in full swing, the announcement came just ahead of the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday.
No strangers to the annual event, the cast make its first appearance at Hall H just after the news broke. Familiar faces Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward spoke about the series coming to an end.
“It’s wild to come down here to Comic-Con and do a big presentation like this, kind of a farewell,” series star Clark Gregg told etalk on Friday in San Diego. “It’s been an incredible ride, and we’re shooting the finale episode right now. We’ll go back to LA and finish that, so it’s a very complicated emotional time.”
And the thing they’ll miss the most? (Beyond the space travel, of course.) The people.
“There’s a swirl of emotions. … The day I say goodbye to that crew – I can’t even speak about it. I’m just gonna be a mess!” said Natalia Cordova-Buckley.
Co-star Henry Simmons agreed, telling etalk, “It’s about the people that you work with. The crew … and seeing your friends on a daily basis, that’s gonna be the one thing that you’re gonna miss the most.”
“We’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished, and really kind of sad about some of the goodbyes that are coming,” added Gregg. And to that, we say: SAME.
Luckily, there’s still a whole season left before we have to say farewell to our fave agents.
Season six of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently airing on CTV, Fridays 8pm ET / 9pm MT
