Look, we get that it’s fiction but the fact that Matt Damon is not only able to play Jason Bourne as deftly as he did the first time, in 2002, but maybe even better than 14 years ago is kind of amazing. Because we don’t know about you but that’s a lot of time and we look and feel older. And while smoke and mirrors play some part of it, we think it needs to be said: Damon isn’t human.

The trailer for the latest in the franchise, Jason Bourne, has been released and it’s making us almost forget the Damon-less/Jeremy Renner blip, The Bourne Legacy. And while Damon looks the same, Bourne does seem a little weathered. But that comes with the territory of finding out you’re a killing machine but don’t know what for, right?

Tommy Lee Jones is also there, as the guy out to get Bourne, though his character seems a little more like Joan Allen‘s in the past. We hope. Alicia Vikander also joins the franchise, along with Ato Essandoh and Vincent Cassel.

Along with Bourne is Julia Stiles‘ Nicky, another ex-government agent whom we last saw in Ultimatum. And while that third film ended with Bourne remembering everything about his life, in Jason Bourne, she has a new challenge for him: “Remembering everything doesn’t mean you know everything.”

And from that chase scene in Vegas, we’re guessing it ain’t good. Jason Bourne hits theatres July 29 and we can’t wait to see him kicking more ass and taking more names.
