We’re not sure what Kate Middleton does in her free time, but we like to imagine her at a loud death metal show wearing this skull-print dress that she most recently wore to Wimbledon. How hardcore.

Okay, actually, the Duchess didn’t look that hardcore. More sweet and elegant than anything, with a little bit of spice. Like, a pinch of really mild chili powder. But she’s unlike any royal we’ve ever known!

Some outlets are reporting that her frock has skulls and knives on it. But it doesn’t. Kate might be cool, but she’s not sporting shivs on her clothes. If you look closely, the Alexander McQueen dress in question is dotted with a handful of whimsical illustrations, including lips, flowers, butterflies, cat eyes, and lipstick tubes—not knives. Oh, and skulls! Did we mention the skulls? (For anyone who knows and follows fashion, this specific motif is a symbol synonymous with McQueen, so we’re not surprised to see ’em.)

It’s got a class British vibe with a touch of punk rock influence from the past. Maybe she’ll opt for a leather fringe vest and black leather ball cap when she re-wears this frock—because you just know she’ll rock it again. That’s kind of the best part about watching Middleton’s every fashion move.

So, yeah, it’s safe to say that we love this look’s air of edginess, and want to add it to our closet. Please, mom, can we have it!? Sadly, like all things Kate touches, this McQueen creation has completely sold out. (Insert crying emoji here.) Frankly, it’s for the better that we can’t get our paws on this one, because it would have been an investment piece (or that’s the language we’d use to tell our partner about the purchase)—it had a price tag of $2,507. We’ll stick to spending our hard earned cash on a summer vacation, and just enjoy the Duchess wearing the dress from afar.
