You’d never think a dog-raccoon hybrid would look good, but Tanu’s here to prove all of us wrong.

Tanu, a Japanese tanuki (raccoon dog), has got the Internet all riled up after someone discovered its owner on social media. Twitter user @chibi_tori has posted numerous photos of this, ahem, interesting creature and we’re utterly fascinated:

We don’t know about you, but it just looks like a really fat raccoon to us. However, tanukis are dogs and aren’t even supposed to be kept as pets, so say experts. And since we always want to listen to the ones in charge, you can get your tanuki fix the safe way: by playing as Tanooki Mario (or Luigi) in Super Mario Bros.
