Ahh, the good ol’ days, a time when every John Hughes movie mattered, when every girl wanted to be Molly Ringwald and every guy tried to be like Rob Lowe. The original Brat Pack was an amazing crew: Ringwald, Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy and Anthony Michael Hall. They were perfection. Like, totally. But the label was something they hated. It mortified them that they were associated with this “club” and their reputations, all thanks to one article, were ruined.
But Vogue magazine has revamped the Brat Pack with new members who take the “brat” reference to a whole new level. Thirty years later, meet the new and improved (?) pack: Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Ansel Elgort and Dylan and Hopper Penn. If you find yourself asking, “Who are most of these people?” you’re not alone. But take Vogue‘s word for it. They are the next big thing.
So who’s playing who in this Brat Pack redux? Here’s our take on Vogue‘s attempt (some duplications necessary):
Rob Lowe = Justin Bieber
Found success after scandal. / Hoping to do the same.
Emilio Estevez = Ansel Elgort
Molly Ringwald = Kendall Jenner
Demi Moore = Gigi Hadid
Has always tried to maintain a low profile but was seen as the party girl in St. Elmo’s Fire. / Keeps high profile with pop star boyfriend Cody Simpson and insists that she is the farthest thing from a party girl.
Ally Sheedy = Dylan Penn
Andrew McCarthy = Ansel Elgort (take two)
Judd Nelson = Hopper Penn
Anthony Michael Hall = Justin Bieber (redux)
The old Brat Pack has nothing on this new breed. And that’s a good thing.
