Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are coming off the heels of a very busy weekend, having attended Eugenie and Jack‘s beautiful wedding, then flying over to Australia where they’ll kick off their first royal visit. They arrived Down Under early Monday, got in a little rest, then decided to start everyone’s week off right with a special announcement, the one everyone has been clamouring for: they’re having a baby! Damn, Twitter knew all along.

The couple added their appreciation of all the support they’ve received from the public since their wedding and were “delighted” to share their awesome news. In case you wondered how far along Meghan might be, People‘s source said she’s already had her 12-week scan and is “feeling well.”
Meghan and Harry have never denied their desire to start a family. So if you do the math, Meghan got pregnant in July, maaaaaybe in June, so they started quick! That could mean an April baby for the Sussexes — just like Will and Kate‘s youngest, Prince Louis. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, this would put Meghan and Harry’s baby seventh in line to the throne when he or she is born next spring.
Megs’ mom, Doria Ragland, said she is “very happy about this lovely news” and “looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.” The Daily Mail added that Doria was seen taking baby-care classes in California last month and “could move to London to help look after the child because Meghan may not want to hire a nanny.” Sounds like a plan.
Leave it to Harry and Megs to do everything they could to keep the spotlight off themselves and let the weeks leading up to Eugenie and Jack’s big day be all about the newlyweds. But with all the rampant speculation and eyes glued to Meghan’s growing belly, it’s clear they had to make a choice: announce it before their tour so she no longer has to hide it and can wear whatever she wants without being judged, or announce it when they’re back on British soil, but worry about ill-fitting jumpers and oversized handbag placement over the next couple weeks. The former was really the best, least stressful choice.
Meghan and Harry can now go about their business without walking on eggshells. And let’s face it, this just made their visits to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga all the more exciting! Not only will Megs’ fashion be spectacular (don’t pretend you’re not thinking the same thing) but the couple’s interactions with kids are going to be that much more enjoyable. And the love the two have for one another? Well, it was already an amazing thing to behold; now they’re going to be extra adorable. Bring on the love!
