Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are entering the final stretch of their Royal duties, after they announced recently that they are officially stepping back from the monarchy in favour of living a private life that is financially independent. The soon-to-be-ex Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living on Vancouver Island since last year, but since their bouncing bambino Archie is soon to celebrate his first birthday in May, Meghan and Harry have plans to return to the U.K. to celebrate this milestone with Archie’s great-grandmother, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II.According to US Weekly, Meghan and Harry want to have a private get-together amongst family at the Queen’s Scottish retreat Balmoral, and hope to have a picnic on the lavish grounds. Apparently the Queen hasn’t seen little Archie since last year, so she’s particularly looking forward to the reunion, despite some tensions within the family recently. The Queen had previously expressed some sadness and “disappointment” at Harry’s withdrawal from his Royal Duties, but perhaps this celebration of Archie will put out some of those family fires. The Queen, 93, has even picked out a rocking horse as a gift for her great-grandson. Cute! But that’s not all that’s in store for the little Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor (try saying that five times fast): he gets to have two parties; one in Scotland, and one at their home on Vancouver Island. Meghan’s besties Jessica Mulroney (host of CTV’s I Do, Redo) and actress Abigail Spencer (Timeless) will be invited over to the family home, along with Meghan’s mother, for a party in Canada. Meghan rose to fame as an actress on the popular legal drama Suits which filmed in Toronto, and she met some of her closest friends while living here in the Great White North.Sounds like little Archie is a lucky boy indeed. There is no word yet if his grandfather, Prince Charles, will be in attendance at either party, as he recently tested positive for COVID-19, nor do we know if the Queen’s consort Prince Phillip, who is in frail health, will attend either. The U.K. recently announced restrictions on all non-essential travel so it remains to be seen if this party in Scotland will go forward in May as scheduled.[video_embed id='1928665']RELATED: Prince Charles tests positive for coronavirus[/video_embed]
