Before she was even the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle dove into royal duties feet first. With Prince Harry by her side, she was a natural, schmoozing when needed, smiling away, chatting with anyone and everyone, just generally happy to be wherever she was. Now that she’s married and an official royal herself, things are about to get interesting. Not only are her royal duties going to increase but so too are the ranks of whom she’ll join during appearances.
First up: The Queen herself.
Mark Thursday, June 14 on your calendars because that’s the day your new favourite royal duo will carry out engagements. Meghan and The Queen will be in Cheshire, nearly four hours north of London, to officially open the Mersey Gateway Bridge before opening the Storyhouse Theatre. They’ll also attend a lunch at Chester Town Hall, reports Hello!.
People recently reported that Meghan wants to tackle real work and not “simply open hospitals or cut ribbons” but, hey, whatever floats the Queen’s boat. Their time in Cheshire — Meghan’s first work day without Harry and her first engagement with Her Majesty — comes just days after she makes her first Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 9, which will also be the first time we’ll see her at Buckingham Palace.
It’s an exciting time to be alive, but an even more exciting time to be a royal fan.
