Meghan Markle could possibly be making a return to her former life as an actor. The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly been offered the opportunity to return to her legal drama Suits for a small cameo in exchange for a large donation to the charity of her choice. Playing the charity angle. We see what you’re doing, NBC, and we’re impressed.

According to The Daily Star, the execs at NBC would be willing to film the short, two-minute cameo in Markle’s new home country in the UK and work around her schedule, with a senior producer saying “We could be done in half a day or less.”  Yeah, we bet.

The ratings Suits would get if they featured a former character who is now one of the most famous women in the world would be on Super Bowl-level. They could work around her schedule? NBC would probably shut down the entire United Kingdom if that’s what it took to make the cameo happen.

The Daily Star is also reporting that NBC has offered to make a large donation, “in the millions,” to the charity of Markle’s choice in lieu of a pay cheque for Markle. The charity would likely be one of her husband Prince Harry’s charities, because in case anyone forgot, Markle is now married to a prince. Oh yeah, they’ll work around her schedule no problem.

The producer said, “No final figure has yet been arrived at, but negotiations are likely to be opened in the very near future. I’ve heard sums ranging from two to six million being kicked around, and that sounds a lot – but it would be one of the biggest marketing coups in TV history.”

Markle’s final Suits episode aired in April 2018, just one month before her wedding to Prince Harry. On the show, Markle’s character Rachel married her boyfriend Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. Markle and Adams left the show at the same time and have remained friends, with Adams and his wife, actor Troian Bellisario, attending Meghan and Harry’s wedding.

Bravo

Writing Meghan’s pregnancy into her cameo would be an easy fit, with the producer adding “We could create a storyline where Rachel and Mike have created new lives for themselves and are starting a family, with Rachel showing an obvious baby bump. I believe we could get away with only one or two lines from Rachel, perhaps saying how she would never have believed she would have such a wonderful life. This particular route would beautifully mirror real life.”

If, and that’s a big if, Markle does return to her TV series, don’t expect to see the Duchess recreating any of her character’s sexier scenes.

Bravo

Suits returns, Markle-free, to Bravo on Wednesday, January 23 at 10 p.m. ET.
