Meghan Markle is arguably the most stylish royal—Prince George is a close second, of course—but this title comes with a price. UFO No More, a website dedicated to royal fashion, claims that Markle had the most expensive royal wardrobe in 2018.

New Post!!! We have compiled our yearly figure for how much the new clothing was worth this year for 14 royals! Link in Bio!

A post shared by UFO No More (@ufonomore) on

The website features an in-depth breakdown of the clothing from 14 royal women around the world including the Duchess of Sussex, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie, among others. In 2018 alone, they tabulated more than $1,281,524 USD worth of clothing — $508,278 USD of which came from Meghan Markle.

Sure, Markle has expensive taste, but this isn’t the only factor that makes her wardrobe account for almost half of the cost. First off, UFO No More notes that almost 80 per cent of the pieces she wore this year were brand new. Royals have been known to recycle their outfits and we can expect Meghan to do the same this year.

Secondly, her wedding jewellery — a Cartier Reflection Wedding Bracelet and Earrings which come to a casual $233,000 USD — make up a large sum of her overall spending. But Meghan’s Mirror, a popular website dedicated to deciphering Markle’s fashion, is under the impression that these items were a gift and should not be included in the tally.

Meghan’s Mirror also calls attention to the fact that Meghan is a “very senior, very prominent member of a very high-profile family,” meaning she needs to dress the part. They also point out that for at least a few of the months in 2018, she was pregnant, meaning she needed to buy new clothing to fit her changing shape.

It’ll be interesting to see how 2019 compares to 2018, but until then, we’ll continue to enjoy watching her step out in more interesting, fashion-forward looks.
