Those who have trouble distinguishing between Pippa Middleton and Meghan Markle will get their chance to see just how different they really are when they’re in the same room in about a month’s time. May 20 marks the date of Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews, and Markle plans on making the trip out to celebrate their union as Prince Harry‘s plus one.
First things first, though. She needs to clear it with her bosses. According to Hello!, Markle wants to take a week off, from May 15-22, allowing her plenty of time to not only get in some face time with Harry but also to attend the hotly anticipated wedding of her maybe-soon-to-be-sister-in-law’s sister.
Hello! speculates that if Harry and Meghan do attend the wedding at St Mark’s Church, it’ll be a huge step in their relationship, not to mention their first official public appearance together.
However, many outlets are saying that’s not going to happen, and while Megs will be at the reception afterwards at Casa de Middleton, the ceremony itself is only for specific people — and Meghan doesn’t fit the criteria.
A source told People that “protocol prohibits unmarried and un-engaged partners to attend the event,” but they can attend the “less formal” party afterwards. So, basically, ‘no ring, no bring’, a policy decreed by Pippa and James when it comes to plus ones at their wedding, reports the Daily Mail. Which means only family members, spouses and fiancés are to be present when the couple exchanges vows.
Harry, you’ve got a month. If Pippa thought Harry and Megs would steal her thunder just by being there, imagine if Markle had a ring on her finger.
