In the same way that everything Midas touches turns to gold, everything that Meghan Markle wears becomes instantly coveted by the masses. The most recent product to undergo this “Meghan Markle effect,” if you will, is a product that she seldom ever applies: highlighter.

A post shared by The Royals👑 (@royalfamilies_) on

The recently appointed Duchess of Sussex attended the Young Leaders Awards at Buckingham Palace, with Prince Harry and the Queen, wearing a double-breasted dress made by Prada that is straight out of the ‘50s or ‘60s. She paired the look with makeup that was ultra-modern, though, including a subtle smoky eye, glossy pink lips, a hint of blush, and highlighter that made her skin look absolutely radiant.

As mentioned, it’s the highlighter that got people talking. Partly because it’s something Markle rarely wears, partly because she looked so stunning, and partly because it was such a daring makeup choice for a royal. Chatter quickly spread across social media about the look, with people scrambling to figure out which highlighter she opted to swipe on.

We’ve yet to get an answer about which highlighter she swiped on, but PopSugar speculated that “In the right light, it almost looked purple, à la Fenty’s Unicorn Match Stix, but that is most likely due to glare from camera flashes.” According to OK Magazine, it could be Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat based on some of her previous looks.

We’ll keep our ears open and our cheekbones ready for the official answer.
