It’s all Meghan and Harry’s fault, naturally
You already know about Meghan Markle‘s half-sister, who has a tell-all in the works and dishes on Prince Harry‘s fiancée any time she can. But ICYDK, Meghan also has a half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., and like Samantha Markle, he also likes to speak out about the soon-to-be royal. See, Thomas Jr. got into a drunken brawl with his fiancée, Darlene Blount, and told The Mail on Sunday that Meghan and Harry’s engagement was to blame.
Blount landed in jail and was charged with fourth-degree assault on New Year’s Day. Markle told the paper that he initially said she hit him in the face, but revised his statement and said his injuries were self-inflicted — then bailed her out.
And while Thomas insists he and Darlene will attend alcohol and relationship counseling, it’s apparently the stress of suddenly being in the public eye that has contributed to their issues.
“It hasn’t been easy,” he told the paper. “Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry has shone a spotlight on our family. It doesn’t help when you have issues and your sister is engaged to royalty. It adds a whole new level of scrutiny.”
He added, for good measure, “We’ve been under a lot of stress because of all the attention. At some point you find yourself drinking too much to escape the pressure.”
This from the guy who told The Daily Mail in December that he hopes to get an invite and thinks it would be “incredible” seeing his “little sister have the biggest wedding in the world.” Don’t hold your breath, Junior.
Brad Pitt bid $120,000 to watch Game of Thrones with Emilia Clarke
Not sure whether Brad Pitt is a fan of Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke, dragons, or all of the above, but he was ready to pony up some serious cash to watch the HBO series with Daenerys Targaryen herself.
Pitt attended Sean Penn‘s annual gala for Haitian relief, and during the auction portion of the evening one of the experiences that got a lot of attention was watching a GoT episode with Clarke.
“During the first auction, Brad was on his phone,” an onlooker told Us Weekly. “When the auction announced Emilia Clarke, they called her out in the crowd and Brad literally turned his whole neck to find and look at her and enthusiastically clap.”
Pitt first bid $80,000, was outbid, then later offered $120,000 and “raised his arms in excitement.” But it wasn’t enough. He politely bowed out at $150,000, and was called out by those in attendance, to which he “laughed hysterically.”
In case you were wondering, the winner dished out $160,000 for the GoT experience. But Brad didn’t leave empty-handed. He won a $40,000 NBA weekend experience with the San Antonio Spurs. Sadly, though, Clarke isn’t involved in that. And we’re sure Pitt isn’t bitter at ALL.
Kit Harrington got into a bar fight and it was caught on camera
Clarke’s GoT co-star, Kit Harrington, was involved in a different kind of game on Friday night — that ended with him being thrown out of a bar.
Harrington was at Barfly in NYC, playing pool like several other patrons. Trouble was Kit was hammered, and according to TMZ, was “banging on the table, grabbing at pool cues and getting in people’s faces.” Eyewitnesses told the gossip site that the actor was asked to leave, and he did. But he came back and eventually had to be physically removed.
OF course Justin Bieber reads the Bible on private jets, shirtless
If this is what Bible study looks like, count us in. Justin Bieber posted a pic of himself on Instagram, which showed him sitting on a private plane, reading his Bible, in all his shirtless glory.
Wowzers, indeed. Not sure what we’re more impressed by — his bod, his impressive tattoos, or how dog-earred his holy book is.
The first teaser for Rose McGowan’s docuseries is out
In the wake of Sunday’s Golden Globes, which addressed Hollywood’s reckoning on sexual harassment, E! figured it was the perfect time to release a teaser for its upcoming series, Citizen Rose, which stars Rose McGowan, the actress who has been calling out Hollywood bigwigs for years.
— rose mcgowan (@rosemcgowan) January 7, 2018
McGowan is gloriously active on Twitter, sharing her story and inspiring and empowering others, which makes this five-part series all the more must-see. She was one of the first to challenge and combat sexual harassment and abuse in Hollywood, so seeing her in action couldn’t be more important.
The episodes follow Rose as she prepares to release her memoir/manifesto Brave for publication, as she continues to fight against the system. Citizen Rose premieres Jan. 30 with a two-hour special.
