The times are changing and weddings seem to be changing with it. Whether it’s a couple’s “first look” before the big walk down the aisle, an end to the bridal shower, or the DJ swapped for a Spotify playlist, weddings are adapting to the trends of the digital age. But Meghan Trainor is trying something even newer: texting her wedding invitations to her guests.
The 24 year-old singer is engaged to Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara and revealed to Jimmy Fallon that she’s inviting people to their wedding through text. “My problem is I’m not sending out invites ‘cause ugh. Like, no. I’m texting people. I keep accidently hanging out with friends and being like ‘Yo you wanna see me get married?’ And then I invite them and I’m like ‘Oh no, why did I invite these people?’ You know?”
She went on to say that even email invites are “a lot of work to do” because the email might get sent to junk mail, and that she doesn’t want to pick out a card since everyone checks their texts regardless of whether they respond.
Would you consider following her lead and texting out your wedding invites? Or is the tradition of ink and paper arriving in the mail still one you’re inclined to keep? Let us know!
