In the ’80s, John Hughes movies were a big deal. Big. Like, huge. Everyone has a favourite, be it The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Some Kind of Wonderful. His writing just hit home, you know?
Michael Douglas, on the other hand, was a little busy at that time. In 1986, he was just coming off the successes of Romancing the Stone and its sequel, and was about to make two of the biggest films of his career: Fatal Attraction and Wall Street. So excuse Mike for not knowing what Pretty in Pink is.
That’s right, Douglas was on The Tonight Show and played Charades with Jimmy Fallon, Jon Cryer and Kat Dennings. It was going well until the Two and a Half Men star had to act out the movie he is best known for — and it all went downhill from there. Douglas had no idea what his partner was talking about, even when he had already figured out the “Pretty” and “in” parts of the movie clue.
What did we learn? Douglas wasn’t and isn’t up-to-date with his teen angsty movies. But, damn, does he do a mean Macarena. Check it out, below:
