Marty McFly has an even softer spot in our hearts after this epic surprise performance.

So, let’s set the stage: Coldplay is currently on their “A Head Full of Dreams” world tour, promoting their latest album. One thing about big name acts on big global tours is that some cities get lucky, and a surprise guest will rock out with the band on stage.

The latest star to appear with Coldplay was none other than Michael J. Fox (or, Marty McFly, rather). You see, Moses, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow‘s 10-year-old son, has a thing for Back to the Future, as many 10-year-olds do. It’s a pretty wicked movie.

So, because Chris Martin is Chris Martin, he asked pal Michael J. Fox to surprise, not only his son, but an amphitheatre of concert-goers, at the sold out Coldplay show on Monday night in New Jersey.

First, we see Martin riffing on his guitar with his band-mates, and they start playing Earth Angel by the Penguins. As any normal person who was obsessed with this film knows, that tune was playing when Marty McFly’s papa, George McFly first got together with his future baby mama, Lorraine Baines. It makes our hearts fill with all sorts of warm fuzzies.

And then, as the band plays on, Martin says, “Ladies and gentlemen, from the best movie of all time, please welcome, Mr. Michael J. Fox!” and the crowd and Moses (and we) were like, “Whaaaaaaaaaat?!”

Naturally, the crowd goes totally wild, cheering as Marty McFly himself steps on stage, and is fastened with a guitar. The group goes on to finish an awesome version of Earth Angel, and as the song comes to an end, Martin applauds Fox, with, “Our hero, Mr. Michael J. Fox!”

And as if things couldn’t get any better, they go on to play Chuck Berry’s Johnny B Goode together. Martin asks the crowd first, “Would anyone like us to do one more song with Michael?”

Um, yeah, Chris, we do. We want you and Marty to reenact our fav scenes from the 1985 flick at every show you do this summer, plz. Do it for the kids!
