Paris Jackson is not a name we hear very often around these parts. In fact, considering she’s Michael Jackson‘s only daughter it’s kind of surprising that she’s not making a name for herself doing the kinds of things other 17-year-old celebs may be doing. For a while there, she managed to keep a pretty low profile and never really sought the spotlight like, say, a certain reality star with pouty lips, ever-changing hair and older sisters who are seemingly everywhere.

That said, Paris is becoming a pretty big deal on Instagram, posting loads of selfies in between shots of her at events and hanging with her soccer player boyfriend, Chester Castellaw. Because while she’s had to grow up quick in many instances, she wants to remind us all that she’s not just the late pop icon’s daughter but, rather, a normal teenager.

Jackson struggled since her dad’s death, including a suicide attempt in 2013, a stay in a therapeutic boarding school and custody battles between her current guardians Katherine and Tito and her mother Debbie Rowe. But she has clearly taken things in stride and is looking healthy and happy.

And now that Paris is starting to come out of her shell, it’s hard not to notice that she’s looking gorgeous while doing it.

Just lovely.

And confident. She doesn’t care that she’s wearing the same shirt less than two weeks apart.

Paris and Chester (Jackson family-approved), who plays for California club Real So Cal, are all kinds of adorable.

No, really.

And what’s coming up for Paris? In 2017 she’ll take the title role in the movie Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys. We can’t wait!
