When was the last time you thought about purchasing a ruby? Never, right? You may change your tune after watching this seductive short film from Mila Kunis for Gemfield, where she poses sexily whilst wearing various pieces of jewellery featuring the classic red gem. It’s an odd little movie, to be honest. It’s the kind of hazy, dreamscape reserved for the intro scene of an episode of CSI Miami. Except this isn’t about those halycon days gone by, nor has a crime been committed. It’s about rubies – specifically, responsibly sourced Mozambican rubies from the Cabo Delgado region.
Watch as the camera closes in on Mila’s eyes, looking deep into your soul. Without speaking actual words, she beckons you to buy all of the ethically sourced rubies– for your aunt, your sister, your mom and yourself. Go on, she says with a hand gesture, buy rubies for your dog collars and your toilet plungers. The glimmer off the jewels is titillating, leaving the viewer to question, “diamonds, who?” Watch for yourself, and prepare to desperately want these precious gems all over everything in your life.
