Miley Cyrus may be garnering attention these days for being awesome on The Voice, but she just reminded us that she’s not only about mentoring aspiring singers and wearing crazy, flower-studded denim outfits. She and her father, country star Billy Ray Cyrus, recently had a bit of a jam session together — or as Miley puts it, “magic jam sesh” — and it was both beautiful and touching.

In the video, Miley plays piano while Billy Ray backs her up on guitar as the two sing “How’ve Ya Been,” from his 2006 album Wanna Be Your Joe. Billy Ray wrote the song in honour of one of his late friends, who “took his life because of discrimination in his community,” according to Miley.

Miley added that Suicide Prevention Awareness Month just ended, “but never should the fight for love and acceptance for all!” Aw. They just broke our achy, breaky hearts.
