For anyone who was as obsessed with Season 13 of The Voice as much as we were, the bond between Miley Cyrus and her singers was undeniable. One singer in particular that Cyrus connected with was Janice Freeman, who was eliminated after making the Top 10.
Freeman’s elimination was shocking to many viewers, including us, with the powerhouse singer consistently giving show-stopping performances each week. While Freeman herself tried to stay positive throughout the elimination, her tearful coach appeared to be stunned and deeply affected by the announcement.
After finding out she would be eliminated during the November 28 show, a tearful Freeman spoke to host Carson Daly about her friendship with Cyrus, saying the two would remain close long after the show. It was a sentiment that an equally despondent Cyrus reiterated, saying she would do anything for Freeman, and it appears to be a promise The Voice coach has made good on.
This week, Freeman posted an Instagram Live video telling her followers that Cyrus had gone above and beyond being a mentor on a reality singing competition. After Freeman and her husband and young daughter struggled to find housing, Cyrus stepped in to help, paying for a deposit and half a year of rent on a new home. Freeman wrote that “she (Miley) found us placement until we found permanent housing, gave me the deposit, covered me for 6 months so I can get on my feet!”
Praising Cyrus, Freeman continued, writing “@MileyCyrus you are one of my closest friends and what you did for me and my family Im praying GOD gives you the desire of your heart!” Although Cyrus won’t be returning as a Coach on Season 14 of The Voice, which will instead feature coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys, if Cyrus does return for future seasons, we would be picking Team Miley.
Miley Cyrus bought her ‘The Voice’ contestant Janice Freeman & her family an apartment before buying them the house they wanted. She is a pure soul with a true heart of gold. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/tVx8H0dAWU
