Everyone gets embarrassed by their parents at some point in their life, but for Navy Vet Pieter Hanson, his mom’s tweet unwittingly put him in the middle of a social and political firestorm. Having unflattering pictures of yourself posted on Facebook by your mom doesn’t seem so bad now, does it? Thankfully, Hanson was able to turn the tweet around and go viral for a good reason. It’s true, positive things can still happen on the interweb!

In a now deleted tweet, Hanson’s mother posted a picture of him in his Navy uniform, making him the poster boy for the #HimToo movement, an anti #MeToo movement supporting President Trump’s comments that right now is a scary time for young men, with the fear that they could be accused of crimes they don’t commit. The comments were made by the rich old white man in response to sexual assault allegations against rich old white man Brett Kavanaugh, who was sworn in to the Supreme Court over the weekend. Look out, white dudes?

Hanson’s mother tweeted that her son fears going on dates with women, writing “This is MY son. He graduated #1 in boot camp. He was awarded the USO award. He was #1 in A school. He is a gentleman who respects women. He won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual assault accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind. I VOTE. #HimToo.”

The tweet quickly went viral, with Twitter users responding to the #HimToo poster boy with hilarious memes.

This may be our favourite.

Now Hanson has responded to his mom’s now-deleted tweet with his own brilliant meme, clearing up any misconceptions that he is scared to date women. He’s not scared and he’s also a huge catch. So at least his mom was right about that. Our favourite part of Hanson’s response may be that he cleared his name without bashing his mom. This dude really does respect women.

In case you’re not already swooning over this cat dad, Pieter upped the ante on his awesomeness. Using his newfound celeb status, Hanson encouraged his followers to make donations to his favourite charities. Even with knowing what you’re getting into with your future mother-in-law, we bet there are still a lot of women who want to date Hanson now.

It’s Tuesday, but we’ve already found our #MCM for next week.

Pieter’s brother also seems pretty awesome, so family functions wouldn’t be a total bust.

As for why Pieter is still single, according to his brother Jon Hanson it’s because he’s busy being awesome. Speaking to Huffington Post, Jon said that Pieter does go on solo dates, but hasn’t had time to meet the ‘one’ just yet. “But the real reason is he’s busy going to school full time, works 3 jobs (one as a volunteer) and is close to opening a new brewery business. He’s a vet with an honorable discharge that received recognition by president Obama.”
