On Monday’s episode of America’s Got Talent: The Champions (Monday’s at 8 p.m. ET on CTV) the competition literally reached new heights. Out of the 10 acts to perform, five had won their season of the talent show, which seemed like a recipe for a night full of praise from coaches Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Alesha Dixon and Howie Mandel. Instead, grumpy Simon showed up for work and both Cowell and Mandel made their distaste for dance known with very loud, very unpleasant Xs. Do we really need the non-dancers judging dance? One of the most diverse nights of the competition so far, Monday’s episode included a harmonica player, a dog trainer, a violinist, two magicians and one knife thrower whose theatrical performance ended with a sharp object landing just south of Klum’s very famous, very well-paid, supermodel face. The insurance on AGT must be astronomical.Simon managed to control himself on this week’s episode and let Howie have his Golden Buzzer moment. The Canadian comedian picked the dance group V.Unbeatable, who previously came in fourth on Season 14 of AGT. Combining cheerleading and dance, the massive group stunned with their high-flying stunts and perfectly in-sync movements. Howie’s Golden Buzzer elicited tears from the group and possibly a few from viewers as well.

Duo Destiny was the first group this week to be voted through to the semifinals by the Superfans. The acrobatic pair won Poland’s Got Talent and went on to work at Moulin Rouge in Paris and with Cirque Du Soleil. Heidi said their performance was sexy and perfect and Alesha said it felt fresh. Even grumpy Simon agreed the pair were astonishing. Howie just really wanted to know whether they were going to get married. If letting your partner hold you 20 feet in the air by your pinkie toe isn’t trust and commitment, a ring isn’t going to add much to the relationship.

Tyler Butler-Figueroa was the second contestant to advance to the semifinals thanks to the Superfans vote. The 12-year-old violin player was a finalist on Season 14 of AGT and made it to third place thanks to his high-energy performances set to contemporary music. On Monday night, the young cancer survivor continued to inspire fans with his combination of musicality, dance ability and overall cuteness.

Choreographers Quick Stop, singer Michael Grimm and dog trainer Alexa Lauenburger were the three artists who were grouped together for the judge’s pick. The 11-year-old dog trainer scored votes from Alesha, Howie and Simon, earning the fourth place in the semifinals. Never have we seen someone in hot pink snow pants command so much respect. It's hard enough to get dogs to sit on command and Alexa had her canines literally jumping through hoops for her.
