Legendary musician Prince has unexpectedly died at the age of 57, his publicist confirmed to the Associated. He was found this morning at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
Prince’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing last week when it became urgent that the artist go to the hospital, although it was quickly brushed off as a bad case of the flu. The cause of his death is not yet known, but of course many are speculating that it is related to his mysterious illness. The artist had also canceled two shows in recent months due to health issues, but there were never any specifics about what exactly he was suffering from.
His passing will surely affect countless people around the world. With 39 records under his belt, more than 100 million albums sold, seven Grammys, and even an Academy Award, Prince, whose full name is Prince Rogers Nelson, was about as iconic and influential as musicians get.
Fellow musicians, celebrities, and ultimately, his fans, have taken to twitter to express their grief.
