When Calgary’s humane society needed to find forever homes for some of their feline residents, staff decided to resort to the high-pressure tactics of a “used cat salesman.” Unlike the laissez faire approach embraced by most animal shelters, this is one approach that gets right in your face.
“Black cats, white cats, tall cats, short cats–we’ve got cats of all makes, models and colours that are ready to practically walk off the lot,” the man clad in a tacky suit, greasy hair and a moustache says in a video uploaded to YouTube.
The organization was promoting its “Cat-Tastic Summer Pawty” event, held last weekend, which promised an array of family-friendly activities like bouncy castles and cotton candy treats, but more importantly, it also included adoptable felines at reduced prices.
“This flashy orange number purrs like a kitten!” the salesman says as he advertises some of his inventory. “Boasting a top speed of 30 miles an hour, this sporty little number is ready to race home straight into your heart.”
Turns out those old-fashioned tactics might’ve worked, as the star of the promotional video was able to help broker deals for 34 “pre-owned” animals.
Wow! Thank you to ALL of our supporters, volunteers and staff who helped to make our CAT-TASTIC PAWTY a success – 34 animals adopted!

Now that’s definitely something you can feel all warm and fuzzy about.
