Every once in a while, a person just needs a spa day. Maybe it’s been a long week and you just need some R&R to reset for the next one. Maybe you’ve got a little free time and you want to use it to treat yourself. Whatever your reason, we know you deserve it, so we want to help you make the most of it.

Facials and mani-pedis are a solid go-to, but let’s take this spa day to the next level to really reenergize you and get you ready for whatever the near future holds. Whether it be a weekend of fabulous events, another Netflix session or more work, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to recharge so you can take on anything that lies ahead.

Jade facial roller and head massager

Sure a backrub is nice, but have you ever massaged your face and head? Not only does it not require trusting your very specific needs to someone else, these massages are tried and true for blood circulation and stress relief. Jade rollers have been lauded by the Kardashians but they were used long before Instagram to stimulate blood flow and encourage lymphatic drainage in the face dating back to the 17th Century in China. You can find a whole host of decently priced ones on Amazon and if you want to splurge, this one is a little pricier but very nice.

There’s no ancient secrets behind the head massager, but everyone should own one. Treat yourself.

Teeth whitening

What’s something you’ve been meaning to get around to beauty-wise, but takes a lot of time you don’t have every time you think of it? If that thing is teeth whitening, seize this quiet moment and do it now. It’s virtually painless and once you have your white strips on, you can do other things like massage your face, do a face mask or paint your nails. Grab yourself some Crest Whitestrips, throw ‘em on for an hour and you’re golden. Or you’re less golden, we guess.

Gel Nails

We all love our gel nails – so shiny, so perfect – but none of us love the removal process. Either we’re ripping six layers of nail off along with the Shellac, paying $15 to have a professional remove it or spending an hour sporting the tinfoil/cotton ball/acetone combo (that’s supposed to take 20 minutes). It’s 2018 though and we might finally have the solution to the gel nail dilemma. Quick Soak-Off caps by KISS are reusable silicone caps that slip over a foam removal pad on each finger so you can do things while you remove your gel. These things will even let you use touch screens while wearing them. So now you can go forth and gel to your heart’s content.

Strips and masks

Is it even a spa day if you don’t do some sort of facial? Our favourite is a double whammy where you yank the dirt out of your pores – so satisfying – and rejuvenate your skin. For the yanking, there’s no one better to turn to than Biore. These guys have had our backs since day one, but they know that it’s hard to see the dirt we’ve removed on their white nose strips. So they regrouped and brought us Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips pairing the dirt-extracting power of charcoal with our need for a dark background on which to see the satisfying dirt mountain’s we’ve removed from our faces. We’ve never felt so powerful.

On to the rejuvenating. Aztec Secret’s Indian Healing Clay Mask is lauded as the “world’s most powerful facial.” We certainly can’t claim to have tried every facial in the world, but this one is certainly top notch. It contains natural calcium bentonite clay and is effective at lessening skin blemishes, cleaning pores and reducing acne. Simply mix the powder with some apple cider vinegar, let it dry for five to ten minutes and you’ll see results the next day. Just be cautious if you have sensitive skin, this facial has some sting.

Bath Soak

You could go the Lush route if you’re looking for a fun bath bomb, but if you want something luxurious and certain to put you to sleep at the end (please not during), Deep Sleep Bath Soak from This Works is a dream. This soak smells like lavender and relaxes you from head to toe while hydrating your skin. It contains no harsh chemicals and if you love the soak, there’s a whole collection of Deep Sleep products to get you ready for the most rejuvenating part of any spa day: a good night’s sleep.

Night Cream

At the end of a long day of spa-ing (or the end of any day really) a good night cream is the perfect way to let your body, your mind and your skin know it’s beauty rest time. This Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon night cream might be a little pricy, but nothing beats the luxurious – and Canadian – feel of a quality nighttime revitalizing and repairing moisturizer. After all, the best beauty treatment out there is a good night’s sleep.
