There were no Monday blahs on the latest episode of  Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9pm on CTV), which pitted the Islanders against each other and announced the biggest twist in Love Island history. Host Arielle Vandenberg’s arrival on Sunday night spelled trouble for the couples with a surprise elimination that would send two Islanders home on Monday. Caleb and Justine, Moira and Calvin, and Cely and Johnny were all voted as the most compatible couples by the public, leaving Carrington and Kierstan, Tre and Lauren, and Mackenzie and Connor vulnerable. The Islanders were forced to eat their own, which on Love Island means voting two people off. Things are bad in 2020, but they’re not cannibal-bad... yet (we still have a few months left). The safe couples voted to keep Mackenzie and Connor, which is good for karma, but not strategy. Everyone knows the couple with the most votes at the end gets a shot at $100,000, right? So, maybe vote off the only two people who are actually a couple? This is Vegas. Play the odds. After saving Connor and Mackenzie as a couple, the guys and girls had to split up for a second decision—the ladies decided whether to save Carrington or Tre and the boys had to choose between Kierstan and Lauren. In the end, Tre and Lauren were sent home and didn’t mince their words as they left.[video_embed id='2026778']THROWBACK: A sexy new arrival shakes things up in Vegas [/video_embed]

NO STIFF UPPER LIP

Neither Tre nor Lauren delivered the typical sobbing goodbye while leaving the villa. “You should be real with yourselves,” Tre told his fellow Islanders, which was more diplomatic than Lauren’s parting words. “You guys are just gonna cruise on by with relationships that are not working,” Lauren told the group. She got a few more shots in with the women, adding “I’m sorry I was honest. I should have faked it like some of you hoes with the relationships you’re in.” It’s safe to assume she won’t be keeping in touch with her former roomies. Tossing the Queen’s English aside, Lauren left the villa with these parting words of wisdom, “Good luck with your safe ass choices in the real world.” As Kierstan said, Lauren “knows how to make an entrance and an exit.”

COUPLE CLARITY

Monday night’s episode gave us some clarity on couples who have been in the grey-zone.
  • Caleb is officially feeling Justine and she is in love. Sorry, she's in "like."
  • Calvin’s aversion to PDA seems to be no more-a. He likes Moira.
  • Carrington and Kierstan have 10 times more chemistry as a non-couple than they ever did while together. Carrington actually smiled on Monday! He can smile!

MACKENZIE DOUBTS CONNOR

In a surprising twist, Mackenzie told Moira that she’s beginning to rethink putting all her eggs in Connor’s basket. Could Caleb’s kiss during Sunday’s "Kiss, Marry, Pie" challenge have had more of an effect on Mackenzie than she realized? Mackenzie has been all in on Connor since before he stepped into the villa, so this seems like a surprising turn of events. Maybe this would be a good time to introduce some new Islanders. On that note…

TWIST!

Are we hallucinating from second-hand heatstroke, or is there another villa in Las Vegas? Season two of Love Island apparently includes a parallel universe where another villa exists and there are 10 new hotties ready to shake things up. Fans of the original U.K. version of Love Island will be familiar with the concept of Casa Amor—the super stressful mid-season twist where all the couples are put to the test by not only being presented with a totally new dating pool, but being totally cut off from their current S.O. Nothing is the same in 2020, so it only makes sense that Love Island is about to mix things up, and by things, we mean couples. Mixy-mixy, give us the dramz.Watch new episodes of Love Island Monday-Sunday, 9pET on CTV.[video_embed id='2028474']LOVE ISLAND BTS: A day in the life of an Islander, according to 'Love Island' Season 1 star Eric Hall [/video_embed]
