We don’t know about you, but when we land on a shopping site and see: free shipping to Canada, we get excited like a kid in a candy shop. Online shopping has definitely made our lives easier, and there’s nothing quite like that feeling you get when you add and an item you’ve been coveting to your basket and check out. So imagine our delight when we stumbled across Garmentory.com, an online marketplace founded in Vancouver that brings the sale racks from the city’s rad local boutiques to you virtually.

Why We Love It

Think sale rack in a non-you-missed-it/members-only flash sale sort of way. Everything featured in the Garmentory’s product offering — clothing, home décor pieces and accessories — is always on sale, 24/7. Even sweeter, after perusing the wares and their original sale price, you (the shopper) determine and offer the final price you’re willing to pay for each item. If your bid is accepted, you can expect your new purchase to arrive at your door in a few days. Garmentory acts like a middleman and each purchase directly benefits the designer or the boutique, so you’re actively supporting independent businesses. And that’s a win-win in our books.

The site is easy to use (read: addictive) and extremely user-friendly. Items can be sorted by boutique, designer, garment type or recent addition and they’re curated in an easy-to-peruse way. Although the selection is light on menswear, the collection of boutiques is impressive and the presentation is thoughtful. We found ourselves searching for gifts that could easily be shipped to friends and family during the holidays while thinking to ourselves, “Do we really need another pair of Rachel Comey shoes?” (The answer is always YES!) But we digress, the Garmentory is a great way to discover new products from designers and Canadian boutiques that you may not have known about, and it leaves you feeling empowered because you only paid what the item was worth.
