Season 10 of The Voice kicks off at the end of the month with Gwen Stefani out and Christina Aguilera back in. Those of us who would rather see the flirty-flirty stylings of Gwen and Blake Shelton instead of the brother-sister rivalry Xtina brings were probably ready to be disappointed. But we’re about to be the bearer of good news.
While Gwen won’t be a coach this season, she just can’t quit the show entirely. Instead of competing against her boyfriend, she’s going to be working with him as his team’s advisor. Which makes The Voice that much better because now we get to see how they interact with each other when they’re on the same side. Y’know, close.
E! News confirmed the couple’s collaboration, which is basically the best thing a Voice fan could’ve asked for. Her return to the show shouldn’t be too surprising, given how popular she is with both the fans and the other judges (Blake, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams). Plus, she was probably backstage waiting for her boo to finish taping on some days so producers figured why not put her to good use?
It was recently revealed that Patti LaBelle would be Christina’s advisor, but Adam and Pharrell’s crews are still a mystery. Throw in Miley Cyrus as the key advisor for all four coaches and it looks to be another stellar season.
But back to Gwake for a sec. ‘Cause we can’t resist. We’ve seen them interact on the show – their adorable banter, the stolen glances – so seeing them, side by side, working together, is going to be a treat for the eyes and the ears. Shelton’s team is so lucky to be able to see that day in and day out; hopefully the cameras stay on them for as long as possible so we get that special treat every episode. too.
The Voice returns Monday, Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. on CTV
