Like many of us, you may be a dedicated, invested fan of The Handmaid’s Tale, the Canadian TV series adapted from Margaret Atwood’s best-selling book. Luckily, the Emmy-winning show is shot in Toronto and once in a while we get handmaid appearances, most recently near City Hall. From the series’ origins to its shooting locations, to actress Amanda Brugel, the show is known for being Canadian.
Brugel is known for playing the character of Rita and will be coming back in the third season, premiering June 9th. She is also an ambassador for a new movement called MADE | NOUS, that encourages all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the creative talent from our country at home and abroad. She says it’s time for Canadians to start taking credit for their content and successful projects in the film, TV, digital and gaming industries. After all, award-winning TV, movies and special effects that have captured international audiences and swept box offices, were made right here in Canada.
The world premiere of the innovative MADE | NOUS campaign took place during ETALK LIVE AT THE OSCARS, last month on CTV. The star-studded 60-second commercial, voiced by OSCAR-winning actor Christopher Plummer, was introduced by ETALK anchor Ben Mulroney from the red carpet during the broadcast. The full campaign was launched nationwide the next day, on February 25th.
