It’s been a long timing coming but Dixie Chicks have officially confirmed that they’re back in the studio and a new album is on the way. The last time they released an album was 2006, which ended up winning five Grammys including Album of the Year and Best Country Album.

That record, Taking the Long Way, which included the hit song “Not Ready to Make Nice,” was released in 2006 and written in response to the backlash the group received after member Natalie Maines said she was “ashamed” then-president George W. Bush was from Texas during a 2003 concert—remember, it was two weeks before the Iraq invasion—and the group was put on blast and boycotted for their political views. Fast-forward to now and that kind of rhetoric would barely register as a blip so the timing of an upcoming album from this amazing trio couldn’t be more perfect.

Maines, Emily Robison, Martie Maguire and producer Jack Antonoff, took to Maines’ Instagram on Tuesday (using a baby filter, consider yourselves warned) to reveal that a new album is coming “someday.” Or perhaps “someday” is the name of the album. Either way, they’ve actually been teasing the album since last year, posting photos in the studio with Antonoff. And while they haven’t sang from a new album in over a decade, the women have still been showing off their musical talents. Maines released a solo rock album in 2013 called Mother, while Robison and Maguire worked together under the band name Court Yard Hounds. They reunited for tours in 2013 and 2016, and let’s never forget that time they sang “Daddy Lessons” alongside Beyoncé at the 50th anniversary of the Country Music Association Awards because it was stunning.

After landing new management in 2018, new music was bound to be on the horizon. Antonoff, best known for his producing and songwriting work with Taylor Swift (most recently, on her hit “Me!”), Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, Troye Sivan and Lana Del Rey, will likely bring new life to their music and we’re quite sure fans won’t even know what hit ’em.

Hopefully “someday” is soon.
