In case their name wasn’t enough of a deterrent already, you really don’t want to mess with a killer whale.

Also more gently known as “Orcas,” these massive beasts are like warriors of the ocean. And they give a whole new meaning to the old saying “floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee.”

A video shot near Hornby Island, B.C. captures just how quickly these predators can yank their prey right out of the ocean. As a pod of orcas is seen hunting for food, one of them spots a sea lion in the distance. Within a fraction of a second, the whale springs from the ocean, snatches the helpless animal, and drives it into the deep.

Here’s the real kicker though: the video was shot from a kayak. You know, one of those rocky, one-person things you have to paddle? How this person was able to watch this feeding frenzy go down and still feel comfortable sitting in a dinky boat remains a complete mystery to us. But who knows, maybe they’ll consider Sea World next time.

Check out the video above.
