The Ontario SPCA is now offering jobs…to cats!
When the OSPCA is rehoming animals, their goal is to find the right home for each animal in its care. This is sometimes easier said than done. Community (i.e. feral) cats, for example, often require alternative homes due to their lack of social skills.
Enter the OSPCA’s Working Cat Program It helps find homes for “unadoptable” cats that don’t thrive in a traditional house environment. The program gives these cats “jobs” as working cats. These cats aren’t your typical house pet and often have no desire to cuddle up with you on the couch. But what these felines lack in social skills, they make up for when it comes to keeping vermin under control.
Barns, wineries, breweries, and warehouses are the perfect place for these kitties, who are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas, microchipped, and are available with no adoption fee. For the small cost of a bowl of cat food and water daily, veterinary care and shelter, the cats are ready to go to work.
