Who knew that when Beca sang we’d miss her “when she’s gone” that we actually would? That we totally, unfathomably, really, truly would? Or that we’d never look at a cup the same way again?
We’ve been trying to recreate that flawless Anna Kendrick moment from Pitch Perfect since the movie’s closing credits. And, since it’s pretty much impossible to replicate all of the girly goodness from the film, we’ve settled instead on counting down the days until the sequel’s May 15th premiere date. Thankfully on Thursday morning, the upcoming movie gave us the perfect thing to tide us over: a new trailer.
If you’ve been missing out on the Barden Bellas and all of their note-worthy antics, this trailer is all for you. Consider it an early holiday present, if you will. Oh it has singing, rivalries, love interests, competition and more, but what we really love about it goes even deeper: it’s like they knew all of the things we were missing out on and wanted to showcase them all in a 2:27 clip.
Try not to get goosebumps from the trailer’s opening song — a rendition of that famous “Cups” song, only this time as sung by the entire Bellas group, around a campfire of all places. That isn’t the only easter egg.
Another weird, potentially lesbian moment between Beca and a fellow Bella? This trailer hits it (or rather, licks it) on the nose. An underground sing-off? You betcha. Elizabeth Banks being … well, Elizabeth Banks? Oh hells yeah, only this time on an international level. Rebel Wilson bringing all of the physical comedy? C’mon guys, what would the movie even look like if Fat Amy wasn’t allowed to do her thing? Let’s just say she crushes it.
But why are we yammering on? You really need to see the trailer for yourself already:
