Niall Horan and James Corden confront phobias, take lie detectors, sing on 'Carpool Karaoke'

Yes, that's a pigeon pooping on Niall's back.

In these wild and uncertain times, it’s important to still have a laugh and enjoy the small pleasures and joys life has to offer. Like a good "Carpool Karaoke" with former One Directioner Niall Horan. His new album Heartbreak Weather dropped March 13 so he decided to drive around Los Angeles with James Corden to talk about meeting Kim Kardashian, a possible 1D reunion (*hyperventilates into brown paper bag*) and his deep fear of pigeons.

“I hate birds,” he admitted to James, in between singing his raucous and rowdy tunes "Slow Hands," "Nice To Meet Ya," and 1D's "Steal My Girl." “I just don’t like that they’re not scared of us. You have to get really close to them—people have to run at a flock of pigeons to make them move!”

Celebrities at this point should know to never trust James Corden with any of their fears or phobias. For he will either make them eat it, fling it at their facezap them with it, or in Niall’s case, put it on his actual body.

That’s right, James took Niall to a park where he placed several pigeons on Niall’s wee, trembling body in an effort to “cure” him of his fears. Leaving him alone with the flying marauders, Niall called out, “James! Seriously, get back here now! James, I swear this has actually made my phobia worse! HE JUST POOED ON MY BACK!... This is the worst day of my life.”

Back in the car, James pulled out some old 1D fan collectibles from his private collection (as you do), like branded toothpaste and an old Niall doll fashioned when he was 16 with much blonder hair. That brought back some fond memories for Niall, like the time he was backstage at an Ariana Grande concert, and Kim Kardashian arrived with her daughter North to say hello. “How Kim described me to North was, ‘This is Niall, he’s the guy who sings from your toothbrush!’”

That's a very unique introduction.

Probably the oddest detour on this "Carpool Karaoke" of phobias and fears was when a lie detector test administrator named John popped into the back seat to put both boys in the hot seat. Wrapping the monitors around their chests and arms, John had each man answer burning questions about their friendship, 1D, and uh, Simon Cowell.

When asked if he thinks One Direction will get back together, Niall emphatically replied, “yes!” (Omg omg omg) and was telling the truth. When asked if he truly likes Simon Cowell, he paused for what felt like an eternity before answering a very polite, “Sometimes.” That’s some real talk right there. When you know, you know.

But it turns out The Late Late Show isn’t his favourite late night TV show, as SNL takes the prize. James pretended to brush it off, but when it was his turn to answer some hot truths, he had to admit that he thinks Harry Styles’ "Sign of the Times" is a better song than Niall’s "Slow Hands." Dang, that’s gotta hurt. But then James added, “At least we can all enjoy him perform it on Saturday Night Live!”

In the end, it was all fun and games as the two friends still remain best of buds. And we have to thank the TV gods that this episode also gave us the revelation that Niall’s email address was once "da_pimp_is_ere@hotmail.co.uk."
