There are some celebrities who bring out the best in people, and there are those who bring out the worst in their co-stars. It would be nice if everyone in Hollywood got along, but that's no fun. In fact, there are some actors who appear to adore each other while the camera is rolling but once "Cut!" is heard, they can't stand each other.Take Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, for instance. The former stars of
The Vampire Diaries played love interests for several seasons but apparently their acting was
that good. Dobrev, who played Elena on the CW drama, revealed on a June episode of the podcast,
Directionally Challenged, that she and Wesley didn't exactly love each other, particularly when they first started filming. "Paul and I didn't get along at the beginning of the show," Dobrev said. "I respected Paul Wesley; I didn't like Paul Wesley. I remember everyone would walk up to me after the show aired and they'd be like, 'Are you and Paul dating in real life?' because everyone thought that we had such good chemistry. I realize now that there's a fine line between love and hate and we despised each other so much that it read as love. We really just didn't get along the first, maybe, five months of shooting."Dobrev then recalled when she and Wesley actually connected. He told her, "Ten years from now, when we're not on this show, you're gonna really miss me." Nina admitted they "ended up getting to a good place" and now that
Vampire Diaries has been over for two and a half years, Nina says that of everyone in the cast, she and Paul are "probably the closest" and she "never thought he would be one of my best friends." But the pals figured they should clear up those pesky rumours for anyone who really did believe their hatred for each other existed. And they did it in the most hilarious way.
Naturally, most outlets were going to run with the "despised" angle because that's the dirt. But they are as clean as they come — literally — thanks to Paul throwing Nina in that pool. Chicks in the Office podcast earlier this week that while they didn't get along in the beginning, they eventually learned to appreciate each other. Similarly, in June, she likened their friendship to something a little more serious, saying, "When you work with anyone or are spending a lot of time with anyone, little things are going to annoy you about them. It's like a relationship; we were basically married." Yup, sounds about right. Stelena forever!
