Sophie Turner may be the most fun celebrity to hang out with at an award show. The Game Of Thrones star attended Monday’s MTV VMAs to support husband Joe Jonas and his band Jonas Brothers, but that still left Turner with more than enough time to party with her faves and be as disappointed as the rest of us that Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello didn’t kiss at the end of their performance.
Turner spent the night next to husband Joe and her in-laws, including Kevin and Danielle Jonas and Nick Jonas, who attended the VMAs without wife Priyanka Chopra. The recently reunited trio gave a high energy double-performance of “Sucker” and “Happiness Begins” in their home state of New Jersey, with their time on stage leaving Turner and the crowd much more satisfied than (reported) new couple Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, who performed their number one single “Señorita” for the first time. Thanks to MTVs crowd cams, which streamed online, the moment at the end of the pairs’ performance when they were *this* close to kissing was caught on camera. So close.

Taylor Swift clutched her nonexistent pearls and looked shocked that her two friends, both of whom she took on tour as openers, are now old enough to have an adult relationship (Mendes turned 21 earlier this month and Cabello is 22). Next to Swift was Todrick Hall, who waved a bandana at the couple before being rendered still in a trance-like state. Bebe Rexha was literally spinning in circles and waving her hands in anticipation of the kiss, seemingly in an attempt to Jedi-mind trick the couple into a smooch. Diplo and his bedazzled cowboy hat sat motionless in anticipation as he nervously prepared for the pucker that never came. But it’s Sophie Turner who was left the most heartbroken.
The actor hilariously recruited Joe and Nick in her efforts to encourage the young couple to wrap up their duet with a smooch, waving the brothers’ arms before dropping them in exacerbation over the performance, which was not sealed with a kiss. We know, Sophie. We can’t believe this couple didn’t kiss. This couple!

Joe Jonas shared the video of his disappointed wife following the VMAs, which we’re sure was a close third behind performing and winning a VMA for Best Pop Video when it comes to best moments of the night. Maybe it was even second place.

Even with the cliffhanger ending for Mendes and Cabello’s “Señorita,” Turner still had the best time at the VMAs, which included sipping tea with USA soccer star Alex Morgan, hanging out with Lizzo, and snapping a pic of her hubby backstage.
But imagine how much better her night would have been if Mendes and Cabello had kissed? Guess we’ll never know.
