For brides-to-be who worship at the altar of Disney, the seas have parted and the angels are singing.
Disney World in Florida has finally opened up its theme parks to weddings. Over 5,000 couples already get married each year at Disney properties around the world, but this is the first time they can say “I do” inside one of its parks.
If you’re looking for low-key, Epcot’s Canada Terrace looks nice (because Disney’s version of the Rockies may be even better than the real thing). But, for the full-on princess experience, you’ll want ultimate backdrop: Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom.
So what does the perfect fairytale wedding cost? Smaller venue packages start at $2,500 USD but for the primo castle location there’s a $25,000 minimum venue fee and the rules are pretty strict: 9:30 a.m. start time, a 100 guest maximum, and you’re required to use a Disney photographer.
There’s no guarantee that Mickey will show up blowing kisses, but you will get a string trio, “greenery package”, and access to Cinderella’s pumpkin-inspired, horse drawn carriage complete with uniformed footmen (who may or may not turn into mice at midnight). Do all your friends and family want to schlep to Florida for your fairytale wedding? Who cares, it’s your day. Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!
